چکیده

Monitoring the world for potential nuclear explosions requires identifying them by their expected seismic signatures and discriminating them from earthquakes and other sources of seismic waves. Large events (approximately mb > 4.0) can often be successfully identified by the MS:mb discriminant. In order to monitor small events (approximately mb < 4.0) short-period regional waveform data recorded within 2000 km will be needed because of poor signal-tonoise at large distances and/or long-periods. Many studies have shown that short-period (0.5-10 Hz) regional body wave phases (e.g. Pn, Pg, Sn, Lg and coda) have excellent discrimination power down to very small magnitudes when used at various nuclear tests sites. In order to broaden the application of these regional body wave techniques, we are developing size-, distanceand location-based corrections to apply to the regional data to allow wider data comparison and better discrimination performance.

The impact of regional economic discrimination on tax compliance

This paper seeks to explain the relationship between regional economic discrimination in the form of three indices of need discrimination, capacity discrimination and combined index of tax compliance across provinces for the period of 2002-2016 in three five-year periods. The research model was estimated by GLS method. The results of the model estimation show that there is a significant relatio...

Brain Functional Connectivity Changes During Learning of Time Discrimination

The human brain is a complex system consist of connected nerve cells that adapts with and learn from the environment by changing its regional activities. Synchrony between these regional activities called functional network changes during the life, and with learning of new skills. Time perception and interval discrimination are among the most necessary skills for the human being to perceive mot...

Lookism hurts: appearance discrimination and self-rated health in South Korea

BACKGROUND Despite a growing body of evidence suggesting that discrimination harms health, the association between appearance discrimination and health has been understudied. Our study investigated the association between perceived appearance discrimination and self-rated health among emerging adults using a nationally representative cohort study in South Korea. METHODS We analyzed the 2nd-10...
